Buscando unir lazos a través de las fronteras enfocados en el tema de la educación, el Consejo General del SNTE acompañado por las Secciones 21 y 50 del Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educación, asistieron el sábado pasado a la donación de libros que organiza la American Federation of Teachers (AFT) realizada en la ciudad de Palmview, Texas.
El Consejero del SNTE, Noé Rodríguez García, así como el Secretario General de la Sección 21, Guadalupe Adolfo Salinas Garza y Guadalupe Castillo García, Secretario General de la Sección 50 de maestros en representación del líder nacional, Juan Díaz de la Torre, visitaron a sus homólogos norteamericanos al evento en donde se donaron más de 80 mil libros y útiles escolares en beneficio de alumnos y sus familias de las diferentes comunidades de Texas, donde residen más de ocho millones de mexicanos.
La AFT (por sus siglas en inglés), representa a los trabajadores de la educación de nivel básico, medio y superior, así como a los empleados que se relacionan con la actividad educativa en Estados Unidos de América.
Louis Malfaro, Presidente de la AFT del estado de Texas y Greg Barrera Jr., Presidente de la Joya American Federation of Teachers, fueron los anfitriones del mencionado evento.
Los líderes sindicales de la Sección 21 y 50 del SNTE coincidieron al manifestar que con este tipo de eventos se refuerza la hermandad entre México y Estados Unidos, así como del Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educación con los miles de maestros que radican en la Unión Americana.
Al mismo tiempo se honra el trabajo que los miembros de la AFT han realizado en diversas ocasiones al apoyar diversas escuelas públicas en nuestro país, dotándolas de acervos bibliográficos bilingües y acreditando la actividad educativa de nuestros maestros.
