La Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL) puso en marcha elLaboratorio de Tecnologías Automotrices, para fortalecer la formación,investigación y desarrollo tecnológico en este sector.
El nuevo espacio universitario fue inaugurado en la celebración del décimo aniversario del Centro de Innovación, Investigación y Desarrollo en Ingeniería y Tecnología (CIIDIT-UANL).
“Para la Universidad es de gran importancia la puesta en marcha de este laboratorio, ya que tendrá un impacto en la formación y generación de conocimiento de los estudiantes que cursan la Maestría en Ciencias de la Ingeniería Automotriz”, resaltó el Rector Rogelio Garza Rivera.
El Laboratorio de Tecnologías Automotrices cuenta con un camión y cinco automóviles que fueron donados por Navistar y KIA Motors de México, respectivamente. Las unidades serán utilizadas por estudiantes, profesores e investigadores de la Facultad de Ingeniería Mecánica y Eléctrica (FIME), como parte de su aprendizaje, desarrollo de trabajos académicos y proyectos para la generación del conocimiento.
“Con estas unidades veremos los diferentes algoritmos de control que se utilizan en los vehículos y camiones pesados, debido a que nos sirven para desarrollar herramientas y softwares para el buen funcionamiento de las unidades.
“Lo que buscamos es conectarnos directamente con el camión y los carros mediante un software, e interpretar la información que nos arroja, e implementar mejoras y desarrollar investigación”, explicó el profesor de la FIME, Héctor Gilberto Barrón.
De acuerdo con especialistas en el sector automotriz de la Facultad de Ingeniería Mecánica y Eléctrica de la UANL, entre los principales problemas son los ruidos y vibraciones de los vehículos, por lo que se buscan nuevos métodos de implementación para erradicarlos.
El corte de listón del Laboratorio de Tecnologías Automotrices fue presidido el 4 de diciembre por el Rector Rogelio Garza Rivera, acompañado por autoridades universitarias y directivos de las empresas automotrices.
“Con la inauguración de este nuevo espacio académico, nuestra Facultad llegó a 12 laboratorios como parte de su infraestructura, lo que nos vincula con el sector social, ya que a la fecha atendemos una matrícula alrededor de los 23 mil estudiantes de los diferentes niveles educativos”, destacó el Director de la Facultad de Ingeniería Mecánica y Eléctrica, Jaime Castillo Elizondo.
Durante la ceremonia protocolaria, fueron reconocidos profesores de la FIME y ex rectores de la UANL que contribuyeron en la gestión de la creación del centro de investigación.

Entre ellos están Rogelio Garza Rivera, José Antonio González Treviño, Rafael Colás Ortiz y Ubaldo Ortiz Méndez.
En el marco de la celebración del décimo aniversario del Centro de Innovación, Investigación y Desarrollo en Ingeniería y Tecnología (CIIDIT) de la UANL, se realizó el II Simposio sobre Investigación Científica e Innovación Tecnológica.
En la jornada académica se realizaron conferencias enfocadas en el área de la ingeniería automotriz, con la participación de ponentes de KIA Motor de México y Navistar.
También se llevó a cabo la develación de la Línea del Tiempo de la Evolución Tecnológica del CIIDIT a lo largo de diez años.
