La Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL) obtuvo el tercer lugar del Robocup Montreal 2018 con un robot de rescate diseñado para ingresar en diferentes escenarios de catástrofe.
El prototipo fue desarrollado por seis estudiantes con edades entre 16 y 17 años, que cursan su bachillerato en el Centro de Investigación y Desarrollo en Educación Bilingüe (CIDEB); mismo que compitió contra otros similares de 17 países de América, Asia, Europa y Oceanía.
Los universitarios de Nuevo León destacaron en la categoría Rapidly Manufactured Robot Challenge del Torneo Internacional de Robótica. El primero y segundo lugar fueron para los representantes de Japón y Estados Unidos, respectivamente.
El equipo mexicano Magistry CIDEB-UANL está integrado por Annasylvia Cuevas Luna, Brenda Elizabeth Del Razo Urdiales, Héctor Barba Hernández, Israel Espinoza Báez, Alan Morales Nájera y José Luis Solís Ramírez, así como su entrenador Erick Sánchez Flores.
El Robocup Montreal 2018 se celebró del 16 al 21 de junio, en Canadá, con la participación de cuatro mil competidores de 35 países, con alrededor de cinco mil robot en diferentes categorías.
Robot de rescate en siniestros
Por segundo año consecutivo, la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León representó al país en la en la categoría Rapidly Manufactured Robot Challengedel Torneo Internacional de Robótica.
“Esta categoría de competencia se basa en la construcción rápida de robots en situaciones de catástrofes naturales como terremotos en las cuales la actividad humana es de riesgo y se necesita de máquinas controladas por humanos o autónomas que puedan entrar a este tipo de ambientes de riesgo para manipular objetos, rescatar víctimas, etcétera”, explicó el responsable de Robótica en la UANL, Erick Sánchez Flores.
En cuanto al robot mexicano, está diseñado con tecnología de impresión 3D, controladores programados en distintas plataformas de software y mecanismos de movimiento todo terreno que le permiten atravesar las pistas que representan distintos ambientes de catástrofe, así como manipular objetos.
“Dado a que la categoría tiene como propósito impulsar el trabajo colaborativo entre personas de todo el mundo para solucionar este problema, se desarrollan habilidades que permiten facilitar los diferentes retos de la competencia.
“Algunos de éstos son la programación e utilización de distintos sensores que le permitan al robot conocer las condiciones de su alrededor; desde luego el trabajo en equipo, la disposición a compartir los avances y aprendizajes obtenidos para que otras personas en el mundo tengan la oportunidad de mejorarlo o continuar trabajando de la mano”, puntualizó el profesor del CIDEB.
En el Robocup Montreal 2018, los jóvenes de la UANL se lograron imponer a participantes de Australia, Brasil, China, Eslovenia y Reino Unido, entre otros.
