La Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León inició el ciclo escolar agosto-diciembre 2018 con el nuevo programa educativo de Ingeniero Biomédico.
Esta licenciatura arrancó con 85 estudiantes, misma que busca cerrar la brecha entre la ingeniería y la medicina, para impulsar la investigación e innovación en las áreas de diagnóstico, monitoreo, rehabilitación, tratamiento de enfermedades y discapacidades del ser humano.
Como parte de este plan de estudios, el Rector Rogelio Garza Rivera puso en marcha el Consejo Consultivo del Programa Ingeniero Biomédico, instancia de consulta, asesoría y opinión que contribuirá a la mejora continua de la carrera.
Además, mantendrá una relación permanente de colaboración y reciprocidad con los diferentes sectores que integran la comunidad biomédica de la región y el país.
“Es destacable la formación de este Consejo Consultivo integrado por diversos especialistas con amplia experiencia en ingeniería y biomedicina.
“Esto les permitirá a los jóvenes crear nuevos dispositivos médicos para brindar a los pacientes un mejor diagnóstico y una atención médica de calidad”, resaltó Garza Rivera.
¿Cuáles serán las funciones del Consejo?
- Determinar necesidades de recurso humano calificado
- Promover la vinculación permanente con los sectores público, privado y social
- Promover la incorporación del campo laboral de egresados formados en el programa educativo
- Emitir recomendaciones sobre la pertinencia social del programa
- Promover la realización de proyectos de beneficio institucional
- Formular un plan de trabajo anual
- Emitir recomendaciones para la mejora continua del programa educativo
El consejo está compuesto por académicos de las facultades de Medicina e Ingeniería Mecánica y Eléctrica de la UANL, así como de directivos de hospitales privados y empresas dedicadas al sector salud; éste sesionará dos veces al año.
La ceremonia fue atestiguada por el Secretario de Salud de Nuevo León, Manuel de la O Cavazos; la Presidenta del Colegio de Ingenieros Biomédicos de México, Jatziri Espinosa Pérez; y el Secretario Académico de la UANL, Santos Guzmán López. El acto protocolario se realizó el 6 de agosto en el Polivalente del Centro de Investigación y Desarrollo Tecnológico de la FIME.
Buscan crear nuevos dispositivos médicos con sello mexicano
De acuerdo con datos del Colegio de Ingenieros Biomédicos de México, el país consume alrededor del 90 por ciento de la tecnología médica extranjera.
Ante este panorama, la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León creó la Licenciatura en Ingeniero Biomédico, programa que surge de la necesidad nacional e internacional por contar con profesionistas capaces de gestionar, administrar y optimizar recursos médicos, así como diseñar e instrumentar equipo médico y tecnología de software.
“Es un programa multidisciplinario para atender una necesidad existente en el sector salud referente al diseño, mantenimiento y operación de equipos, así como de dispositivos que logren la mejora de los procedimientos médicos para que sean menos invasivos para el paciente. Además, es un programa acorde a la cuarta revolución industrial”, puntualizó el Director de la Facultad de Ingeniería Mecánica y Eléctrica, Jaime Arturo Castillo Elizondo.
Aunque la licenciatura ya es ofertada en México, el programa de la UANL es el primero del país en ofrecer las orientaciones de Ingeniería de Tejido y Neuroingeniería; su tercera orientación es la Ingeniería Clínica.
“Queremos que el ingeniero biomédico esté inmerso en los hospitales y clínicas en donde pueda ver toda la tecnología que hay actualmente para desarrollar más innovación, porque al estar en contacto con el médico, se empapa de los nuevos equipos tecnológicos que se requieren.
“Asimismo, buscamos que nuestros profesionistas generen la tecnología en México y que no sea importada de otros países”, señaló el Director de la Facultad de Medicina de la UANL, Edelmiro Pérez Rodríguez.
La Licenciatura en Ingeniero Biomédico propone la innovación e investigación en tecnología médica como una competencia transversal. Además, sus estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de adquirir una doble titulación a nivel internacional, a través de un convenio con la Universidad de Grenoble, en Francia.
Se impartirá en conjunto entre las facultades de Medicina e Ingeniería Mecánica y Eléctrica, y tendrá una duración de cinco años. De acuerdo con los coordinadores del programa educativo, es una carrera demandante en el país y se coloca como la quinta mejor pagada.
