Con el compromiso compartido de que el Día del Patrimonio de Nuevo León se consolide y siga aumentando el número de personas que participan en sus actividades, Sergio Rodríguez González y Rosana Covarrubias Mijares asumieron la coordinación del evento ciudadano durante la sesión del Consejo Organizador.
En la reunión realizada en la Prepa UDEM Obispado se entregó un reconocimiento por parte de las 67 instituciones públicas y privadas que participan en esta actividad a Daniel Sanabria Barrios, fundador de esta iniciativa, por su liderazgo, creatividad, esfuerzo y compromiso a lo largo de los primeros cinco años.
Rodríguez González y Covarrubias Mijares, nuevo coordinador general y coordinadora adjunta, respectivamente, coincidieron en que buscarán consolidar esta fiesta ciudadana y establecer iniciativas que logren que la cifra de asistentes a las actividades siga en aumento.
El Día del Patrimonio de Nuevo León es una iniciativa ciudadana, pionera en México, que une a más de 67 asociaciones, colectivos, fundaciones, museos, universidades e instituciones públicas y privadas que hacen posible está celebración.
Desde 2014 esta jornada de dignificación de la identidad regional se celebra cada segundo domingo de marzo. En su primera edición asistieron 18,347 personas y en la edición del pasado 11 de marzo de este año se obtuvo un récord de 64,107 participantes en 150 actividades en 94 espacios de todo estado, lo que significó un aumento de 38 % respecto al año anterior. Desde 2016, se festeja como una fecha oficial del Calendario Cívico del Estado.
Sergio Rodríguez González es arquitecto de profesión y con Maestría en Artes por la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. Además de su labor profesional dentro de la arquitectura en los ámbitos público y privado, ha desarrollado labores en la promoción cultural.
Fue fundador del Departamento de Difusión Cultural de la Facultad de Arquitectura de la UANL, vicepresidente de Asuntos Culturales del Colegio y Sociedad de Arquitectos de Nuevo León, y presidente del Consejo Cultural de Nuevo León.
Desde 2005 es jefe de Proyectos y Apoyos Municipales dentro del Consejo para la Cultura y las Artes de Nuevo León (CONARTE), donde ha realizado un inventario de infraestructura cultural del estado, promovido la creación de museos municipales, llevado a cabo un programa de rescate de archivos municipales, supervisado restauraciones y montado cientos de exposiciones itinerantes, entre otros proyectos.
Rosana Covarrubias Mijares es arquitecta por la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León donde se ha distinguido por sus actividades de investigación y divulgación del patrimonio arquitectónico local.
Es autora y coautora de diversas publicaciones y estudios sobre arquitectura de la región, una de las cuales fue merecedora de una mención honorífica en un concurso anual. Desde 1997 es miembro de la Subcomisión de Catalogación y Registro del Patrimonio de la Comisión de Patrimonio Arquitectónico de la Academia Nacional de Arquitectura capítulo Monterrey.
Actualmente es coordinadora de Patrimonio Cultural Universitario, dentro de la Secretaría de Extensión y Cultura de la UANL.
