Buscando tener un espacio de reconocimiento para los Héroes de 1946 que combatieron durante la invasión norteamericana en Monterrey, autoridades, historiadores, arqueólogos y representantes de la constructora Delta, anunciaron la construcción de una plaza en donde se erigirá un monumento en su honor en un terreno a un costado del Paseo Santa Lucía.
El predio de aproximadamente 400 metros cuadrados ubicado sobre la calle Héroes del 47 al lado del canal, fue inspeccionado por los diputados locales Héctor Gutiérrez y Héctor Morales en representación del Congreso del Estado, quienes se comprometieron en hacer las gestiones ante la Tesorería estatal para que el próximo 21 de septiembre se inicie la construcción de este espacio.
Durante el recorrido, Héctor Jaime Treviño Villarreal, delegado del Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH) mencionó que es de suma importancia que estos héroes regiomontanos sean reconocidos a través de este espacio y resaltó que es trascendental que esta plaza sea pública y se convierta “en un paso referido por los regiomontanos y turistas, para que así conozcan lo que aquí aconteció”, mencionó el funcionario.
Por su parte, Israel Téllez, subdirector de desarrollo de Delta, dijo que la empresa constructora contribuirá en un buen porcentaje económico en la construcción de esta plaza que debe de ser totalmente armónica con el urbanismo del Paseo Santa Lucía.
