En el marco de la conmemoración del Día Mundial del Agua, el Gobierno de Nuevo León refrendó su compromiso de trabajar por brindar agua potable a los habitantes, por lo que enfatizó el proyecto de Monterrey VI con el que se planea garantizar el abasto del vital líquido por los próximos 50 años.
Durante el evento efectuado en el Parque Fundidora, el Gobernador de Nuevo León, Rodrigo Medina, reconoció y premió a los alumnos de educación básica, ganadores de los concursos organizados por Servicios de Agua y Drenaje de Monterrey en torno a la cultura del agua.
Ahí hizo un llamado a la comunidad para reforzar las medidas sobre la cultura del cuidado del agua principalmente en los hogares.
Mencionó que otro de los grandes compromisos que tiene su gobierno para dotar del vital líquido a la población es el gran proyecto de Monterrey VI el cual iniciará su construcción este mismo año.
“Y ahora con este proyecto de Monterrey VI, pues ustedes lo saben, además es un compromiso del Presidente Enrique Peña Nieto, es un compromiso con el Estado de Nuevo León, es una obra además de 15 mil millones de pesos donde construiremos un acueducto de aproximadamente 400 kilómetros de largo, imagínense el esfuerzo que ha de haber cada vez que abrimos la llave; la vamos a estar trayendo del Río Panuco, allá en el estado de Veracruz, vamos a construir ese acueducto desde allá hasta acá a la Presa Cerro Prieto y de ahí, aquí al área metropolitana de Monterrey, para que nuestra gente no sienta que el servicio demeritó, que vayamos a volver a tener cortes, es una obra que no se va a construir ni siquiera aquí en el Estado de Nuevo León y no se va a ver, pero se va a sentir y por eso queremos concientizar a la gente”, expresó el Ejecutivo Estatal.
Durante el evento se recordaron los tiempos en que Monterrey y su área metropolitana carecían de agua domiciliaria las 24 horas del día y se hacían recortes en las colonias, por lo que se hizo un llamado a la población para no volver a esos tiempos ya que es necesario cuidarla muy bien para que no se agote.
La Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas proclamó 2013 como “Año Internacional de la Cooperación en la Esfera del Agua”, con lo que los integrantes del organismo se comprometen a promover actividades para seguir concientizando a la comunidad sobre la importancia del líquido.
Como cada año Servicios de Agua y Drenaje de Monterrey organiza diversos concursos entre estudiantes del nivel básico para promover el buen uso del agua, además organizó la Semana Estatal del Agua que realiza desde 1995 y que incluye el Programa “Cultura del Agua”, que se realiza coordinadamente con la Secretaría de Educación a fin de concientizar y sensibilizar a los niños en el uso y conservación del agua.
A nivel preescolar, los alumnos participaron en canto y actuación; los de primaria presentaron una historieta y en secundaria realizaron una campaña para el cuidado del agua.
Este año participaron 5 mil 800 escuelas en todo el estado; 18 mil 797 maestros que asesoraron, dirigieron y encauzaron los trabajos; y se contó con 257 mil 735 alumnos.
Todos los niños ganadores del primero al tercer lugar, recibieron un obsequio. Los maestros y directores obtuvieron un diploma con valor escalafonario y todos se harán acreedores a premios en efectivo.
A la premiación asistieron Jorge Domene Zambrano, Jefe de la Oficina Ejecutiva de la Gubernatura; José Antonio González Treviño, Secretario de Educación; Nicolás González Flores, Director de Ingeniería de los Servicios de Agua y Drenaje de Monterrey; Elizabeth Cerda Andrade, Gerente de Comunicación y Cultura del Agua de Servicios de Agua y Drenaje de Monterrey; y Mía Berush Tueme, en representación de la niñez neoleonesa.
